The
Brookline Education Foundation sponsors the annual
Brookline ScienceFest.
This year, the Museum of Science will be coming to the Brookline High School auditorium with two exciting programs:
- Animal Invaders (at 10:30 am and 12:30 pm)
Animals are an integral part of our environment. At times, they even occupy the same spaces as we do, whether we want them to or not! Learning to live green includes learning to coexist with the animals that share our planet, in addition to making it a better place for humans to live. In this program, we discuss the ecological benefits and potential risks associated with living in close proximity to some of these animals while observing up to three live examples of the invaders in question.
- Reptiles (at 11:30 am and 1:30 pm)
Are snakes actually slimy? Why do snapping turtles snap? And most importantly, what makes a reptile, a reptile? The best way to become acquainted with reptiles is to meet animals from the Museum's Live Animal Center. Together we will answer these questions and many more while we learn about these incredible animals.
In addition, scientists, physicians, engineers, and educators in the
community will set up demonstrations and activities for children of all ages. From the take-apart room stocked
with old electronic equipment and screwdrivers to giant telescopes
to the electric pickle, students and their families have the opportunity
to play with science and see scientists at play.
This year's
ScienceFest will take place On April 2 from 10 am until 2 pm at Brookline High School. Check back here for more information as it becomes available. |
